Gunshot victim Ashwin Kumar succumbs to his injuries in hospital, Jamshedpur

In a tragic incident, Ashwin Kumar, a 28-year-old individual, who was admitted to Tata Motors Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds on Wednesday morning, sadly passed away in the afternoon.

Ashwin, a resident of Sheshnaag locality in Chhota Govindpur, suburban Govindpur, had been shot multiple times, with one of the bullets causing a fatal injury to his chest. Despite undergoing surgery, he did not survive.

Confirming the demise of Ashwin Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (CCR), Animesh Gupta, who currently holds charge of the City, attributed the shooting to gang rivalry. Gupta assured that the culprits responsible for this act of murder had been identified and would be apprehended soon.

The DSP, overseeing the Govindpur thana, mentioned that there had been a violent clash between the two gangs during the Holi festival, and the victim was associated with one of them.

However, the specific gun attack on Ashwin in the morning was a result of a dispute over a mobile phone with Suraj Yadav, a prominent member of the rival gang, which was revealed by the DSP.

Sources indicate that Deepak Kumar and Mukesh Jha carried out the gun attack under the instructions of Suraj Yadav.

Ashwin, the son of Awdheshlal Verma, was engaged in the business of buying and selling land in the Govindpur area. On the day of the incident, he was on his way to a crematorium to attend the funeral of a relative in Govindpur when he was targeted by two individuals on a motorcycle. Before heading to the crematorium, Ashwin had taken some prospective clients to the Khakripara area to show them available plots of land.
